Today the baby and my cousin and I visted my SIL and the baby's beautiful cousin for afternoon tea.
My brother and SIL have a giant dog who is young at heart, and still adjusting to having a tiny baby in the house - he was out the back when we arrived.
The baby scooted herself over to the glass door to have a look at the dog - he caught sight of her, had a good look, and gave a single loud bark.
The baby did the biggest jump I've seen.
And then she slowly turned back to me, her lip dropped and she started to sob.
It didn't last long, but it was a very clear reaction to being shocked, where she just wanted her mum to help her feel better.
